Swam alone in the sea for five days.
This man (Rabindranath) from the Pargana district of West Bengal went fishing near Haldia in the Bay of Bengal. He was accompanied by 15 friends.
Suddenly, the sea changed its direction. A big storm hit. The boat they were traveling in capsized due to the impact of the waves.
All his companions were washed away by the impact of the waves. Rabindranath was left alone.
On one side, the storm surrounded him. On the other side, loneliness gripped Rabindranath’s heart. He was not afraid. Since he was a fisherman by profession, water was never an enemy for him. He did not give up his effort. He started swimming. Above the sky. Below the sea. Hours passed. Days passed.
Rabindranath swam alone in the sea for five days. No food. No water to drink. There was no one to save him except the desire to live. When it rained, there was nothing to do but wet his throat with rainwater. Death was approaching. But his courage kept him going.
On the fifth day, a Bangladeshi ship named “MV Jawad” was seen in the distance. Its captain could see someone moving his hands in the distance. Looking carefully, he saw a man swimming.
The captain threw a life jacket. Rabindranath could not catch it. His captain did not give up his attempt. They did not remember borders, religions, or castes. Humanity drove them forward.
Rabindranath was seen again at some distance. This time the captain recognized him and threw a life jacket. Rabindranath was able to catch it and reach the ship.
He was slowly brought into the ship with the help of a crane. He was already extremely tired. When he entered the ship, all the sailors on board shouted with joy. It was a sign of humanity that they had saved a human being.
They felt that they had saved not only a life but also humanity.
This incident proves that the perseverance of one man and the compassion of another man can take the world forward.
This video was taken by a sailor on the ship and informed the world about this incident..
