Overthinking 2 How to deal with overthinking
A computer has hardware. When you search, it only shows the information that is present in it. If the searched information is not there, it says so. But a human being is not just the brain but also the environment.
The mind exists beyond the brain. Where is it? It can be found in society, in nature, and in the past. This is a never-ending process; it keeps searching.
There’s an exam. I’m thinking about whether I will pass or not. Did I get confirmation that I will definitely pass? No.
Now, let’s say there’s a book, a psychology book. If it says that a particular chapter related to psychology is on a certain page, then it means it’s there. If you look, you will find it.
If something is not in psychology, proving that is impossible. We keep searching, wondering if it’s in this book or that book.

One person says God exists, and I say He doesn’t. The person who says God exists must prove that God exists. If they ask me to prove that God doesn’t exist, that’s impossible. Those who say God exists must prove it.
What we need to understand here is that a negative statement can never be proven. A positive statement can be proven as either yes or no.Passing the exam is positive. But this isn’t positive in the sense of nature. If you pass, you’ll get a good job, and your life will be good. The opposite result is that if you don’t pass, you are in danger. It’s framed as your life will be in trouble.
The more the exam is glorified positively on one side, the more negative it becomes on the other side.
A swing goes as far in one direction as it is pulled in the other. It’s not possible for it to go only in one direction.
The exam and its result have become positive. Now you need a confirmation that you definitely won’t fail.
We keep searching. There’s more danger there. The greater the danger, the more we search. Because of this, we experience various kinds of anxiety. Our body becomes chaotic in various ways. Gas forms, and there are vomiting and loose motions. All the energy is drained. IBS develops, and we can’t sleep. The body doesn’t accept anything we eat.
Why? Because our belief system has accepted that negativity is dangerous.
One example is that you have to speak at a meeting. You won’t get such an opportunity again; you must speak well. Then, the more positive that meeting is, the more afraid we become.
Now, what we need to do is think, “I will speak as much as I can. There’s nothing more than that. Even if I fail, it’s okay. My life is important to me.” When you think like this, all these problems will decrease. In life, we should minimise positivity as much as possible. We should always be happy and cheerful. Isn’t this what these motivational speeches tell us? Always be happy, keep smiling, and never be sad.
I have observed that people who artificially smile all the time, saying they should always be smiling, have a lot of hidden pain in their lives.
What do motivational speakers say? They say that if you pass an exam, your life will change in this way and that way. Do you know how great that exam is? By making one thing positive, its opposite becomes negative.
Always try to be neutral. Whether you are speaking on stage, singing, or driving, whatever it is, be prepared to do your best, but also be prepared for failure.
We should always be ready to accept negativity as well. Then we won’t experience anxiety or overthinking.
If we don’t increase positivity in this way, the chances of overthinking will decrease.
