Deadly Courage Courage definition

There is a difference between courage and bravery. Bravery is something we acquire. People are often told to be brave when they are afraid. This only increases their fear.

Our problem is primarily psychological anxiety. The fear is based on imagination, the perceived loss if something goes wrong. This anxiety leads to stress. When performing a task, we experience stress if we feel that we don’t have enough resources to complete the task successfully and that it will fail. The intensity of this stress depends on the magnitude of the loss if the task fails.

Suppose there is an exam at 9:30, and I leave at 9:00. It takes me 45 minutes to get there. The stress I experience during this journey will be very high. This is because if I don’t attend the exam, the entire year will be wasted.

Similarly, your brain and body will function according to what you believe the consequences to be.When this anxiety is high, we cannot perform as well as expected in exams or skill-based tasks. We face failure.

We develop a certain attitude due to certain experiences. Now, the mistake many people make is thinking, “I will do that task after I develop courage.” For example, “I need to do public speaking; I will take counseling, overcome my anxiety, and then go for public speaking.”

“I want to sing songs, but I have anxiety. What should I do now? I should take counseling, overcome it, and then sing songs on stage.”

Anxiety arises because of attitude. Courage is also an attitude. Courage is also fearlessness. Anxiety is formed over a period of time. It cannot be broken immediately with knowledge alone. Even with knowledge, a lot of practice is needed. You have knowledge about a bike. You know the accelerator, the clutch, and the brake, but can you drive a bike? No. Along with knowledge, practice is required.

Courage develops through practice. How to do that practice? What we need to understand here is that if we set big goals, thinking that great success will come in the future, fear arises when we try to achieve them. Instead, by setting small tasks and achieving some success, courage develops.

So, we need to do only one thing: not focus on long-term goals, but on whether the tasks I am doing in this moment, today, are successful or not.

If you ask, “Won’t I feel fear?”, even if I feel fear, I will try.There are small children; they first crawl and then slowly start walking. They fall down, get up, and walk again.

Similarly, if you keep trying something, success will come gradually. You can’t wait until you’ve completely mastered walking before you start walking, right? You’ll never be able to walk that way. There will be fear, but saying “I will try anyway” is success. Even with fear, I will take a step forward.

Therefore, I will do the task every day; whether it gives success in the long run or not is irrelevant.

Many people set big goals and think that happiness in life will come only after achieving them. But that’s not true; whether you get married or not, whether you get a job or not, whether you pass your degree or not, there will be no real change in life. Why? Because life is a mental state.

Courage doesn’t come all at once. Success comes through small tasks done every day. Whether there is progress or not is important; perfectionism doesn’t exist. It doesn’t exist anywhere in this world.

So, by setting small tasks and performing them, success will come. You will feel fear, but you must still keep trying.
