We have learnt about some aspects of parenting. Today, let’s talk about a few more things. Teenagers need an identity. Some excel in academics, some in sports, and some in singing. Some are quiet and calm. If they don’t find a positive identity, they might seek one even by becoming a “bad boy” . The same applies to girls. When teenage girls go to functions, they wear traditional dresses. They walk around, doing a 360° turn, checking if anyone is noticing them. They also want an identity. If no one notices them, they feel very hurt. Even if people are watching, they might still get angry – that’s a different matter; that’s abusive behavior. But if absolutely no one notices them, it’s an insult to that girl. What that girl needs is an identity. When people in blood relation recognize them – father, mother, brother, or other family members (not relatives) – and when that identity is not found, even a boy is likely to be attracted to others quickly.
A newborn baby needs to be attached to its mother. Conversely, a girl child is attached to her father. When this is absent, such as in the case of a single parent, or when the mother or father is abroad, or when one of the parents has passed away, the lack of care for the children is very dangerous.Some people say that parents go to America, Dubai, and other foreign countries to earn money for the good of their children. Did the children ask for that money? Many parents abandon their children in hostels. In villages, due to a lack of proper facilities, children are sometimes sent to social welfare hostels for their education; that’s a different matter. There are some difficulties even there, but it’s a necessary situation. However, there are parents who are well-educated and earn good money, living in the city, yet they enroll their children in hostels outside the city. This is because they think their child is being too mischievous. This means they believe that a warden who has only passed tenth grade can handle their child better than parents who have completed post-graduation. How foolish is this? Why would someone who works for a salary have the responsibility towards your children that you yourself lack?
Biological mothers and fathers are very important. When children are in their teens, parents should talk to them, discuss things with them, and spend time with them. Spending time doesn’t mean just watching a movie together on TV.
A girl feels an unknown sense of security when her father talks to her.
A boy feels very secure when his mother talks to him. His self-confidence increases. Then, they can deal with any problems they face outside.
Children who respect their parents can handle themselves in any kind of society. Otherwise, they might quickly become addicted to bad habits. That’s why the bond between parents and children should never be broken.
