What is cognitive dissonance, and how do you overcome it?

Cognitive dissonance is when a person has a habit of smoking cigarettes. But he cannot give up the habit even though he knows that smoking cigarettes is bad for his health.

Similarly, another person has learned that walking in the morning improves his health. However, he cannot get up in the morning and walk. There is one attitude, and his behavior is the opposite. The conflict between these two is what we call cognitive dissonance.

Now the person has a habit of smoking. But there is a difference between the harm caused by smoking without knowing that smoking is harmful to him and the harm caused by smoking if he has the attitude that there is no harm from smoking.

For example, for a person named A, the harm caused by smoking is one.

And the guilt that comes from knowing that smoking is wrong is another. This releases chemicals in the body and damages our body even more.

A person named B smokes just as much, but he is not so aware of the harm caused by smoking. Now, if we compare it with B, the damage caused to A is more.

There are many such things. For example, there is an attitude that one should not hit children. But anger cannot be contained and hits.

There are three types of solutions in psychology for this.

Here, when our attitude is strengthened, our behavior changes.

The second thing is to change our attitude according to our behavior.

I don’t care if I smoke, and I don’t care if I’m fat; I don’t walk.

The third is to go forward thinking that my behavior will be like this, my attitude will be like this, and conflicts will arise.
