Regret is the act of repeatedly worrying and dwelling on a mistake after it has been made. Do not just wallow in regret; instead, realize the situation and move forward. Rather than sitting around feeling bad about it, seek a solution.

Regret is akin to death. Mistakes are bound to happen after an event has occurred.

A person suffering from severe anxiety once went to a psychologist for counseling. He remarked, “If I had come for counseling ten years ago, my OCD would have significantly reduced by now, and my life would have been much happier.” The psychologist replied, “I might not have been able to provide counseling as effectively ten years ago. I might have given the wrong advice, or you might have misunderstood me—there is no way to know.”

Many people ask whether a decision they made was right or wrong. In reality, there is no such thing as “right” or “wrong.”

Our teachers and motivational speakers often tell us to make the “right” decision at the “right” time. However, the concepts of a “right” decision or a “wrong” decision do not truly exist.Sita asked for the golden deer, and Rama went in search of it. Various factors—emotional, sentimental, or biological—constantly influence us. We base our decisions on these factors, acting according to whichever one dominates at the time.

If a mistake occurs, we must accept it. From childhood, we tend to resist accepting failure; however, accepting failure is the only way to move forward. It provides us the chance to identify where we went wrong and progress. Dwelling on past actions with regret serves no purpose. We experience pain whether we act or not; however, embracing the pain associated with taking action increases the likelihood of positive results.

If you face an insult or a failure in a task, accept it. Immediately focus on the next step and get to work; that is how you achieve favourable outcomes.

Inaction yields no results. As we age, the risk of failure only increases.
